The 13th MNRA Technical Commission met in Rabat on 28 June 2019, at the invitation of the HACA of Morocco, which is the incoming vice-president of the network and a member of its executive secretariat.
The CAC of Catalonia – Spain, in its capacity aspresident-in-office of the network and as a founding member, and the French CSA, in its capacity as outgoing vice-president, as a founding member and as a member of the executive secretariat, were represented.
The participants reviewed the various activities of the network since the last plenary assembly held in Barcelona in November 2018.
The ongoing work of the Gender and Media working group, currently co-chaired by the Catalan CAC and the Portuguese ERC, on “the news coverage of gender violence”, was presented by the CAC.
The CAC, which co-chairs with the Croatian AEM the working group on Media Literacy, presented a first summary of the questionnaire sent to members on national initiatives in this field.
The participants also discussed the draft agenda for the 21st plenary assembly.
Digital regulation, the transposition of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), media literacy, gender equality and media coverage of migration issues will be at the centre of the discussions.
